Kites (Ode to "Les Cerfs-Volants")

Painted on July 25, 2024 and August 1, 2024, I was reading Romain Gary’s “Les Cerfs-Volants”, which became one of my favorite albums of all times. In retrospect, the pieces (especially Painting 1) LOOK like kites. The book’s narrator is blessed/cursed with a perfect memory (“Je souffre d'une excès de mémoire, comme tu sais.”). I found it fascinating/heartbreaking, seeing the memory of Painting 1 in its saturated colors, to fade into something more demure.
Painting 2 also represents something in the book discussed as a key of living — a balance of reason & craziness (“La vérité, c'est qu'il ne faut ni trop de raison, ni pas assez de folie…”)
